This post will attempt to collect arguments for public schooling. It will also include objections to home schooling and then homeschool responses. This will hopefully be an ever-growing post, so it is linked to on the “The Homeschool Debate” page, along with the rival posts for collecting arguments for home schooling, along with objections/responses, and the same for christian schooling.
#1 If you take all the salt out of public school, it will rot. Christians are supposed to be in the world. Homeschooling and Christian Schooling is opposed to the biblical, missional spirit of Christianity.
#2 Not only does Home and Christian schooling violate the biblical spirit, but it also sets children up to not be able to interact with non-Christians. It teaches them to fear the world, rather than to have a “heart for” the world, meaning a compassion with the worldly world’s alienation from God.
